No doubt about it: time and time again, studies show that the majority of seniors would prefer aging in place over assisted living facilities or nursing homes.

Nancy’s mom was no different. Like many adults her age, she wanted to be close to her kids and grandkids while maintaining her own space and independence.

In her quest to find a solution that suited her mom, Nancy stumbled upon Little House on the Trailer and inquired about a Home Care Cottage.

Though many adults over the age of 65 have similar preferences when it comes to aging in place, everyone has their own personal preferences and needs.

For Nancy’s mom, she wanted most of all to be able to host her grandchildren for after-school snacks and the occasional overnight (a daunting task for even the most resourceful grandparent). For her, maximum comfort meant having an open floor plan with a large accessible bathroom and a sleeping loft for the grandchildren to play and sleep in. Easy enough!

Little House founder and design expert Stephen Marshall met with Grandma and her daughter several times to work out the design and specification details.

As with all of our Home Care Cottages, Grandma’s Little House was built to order to her exact specifications. Just two months after the contract was signed, her cottage arrived. Now the only question is: how to get those little boys to sleep!?
